A couple of years ago I read an article about industrial soft bread. Yuk. In most of them there are almost as much additives as wheat flour, and even the latter is so much refined one can hardly still call it flour. Since then I tend to limit my consumption of soft bread to the one that's made by my local bakery. Buying the proper mold to try and make some myself is somewhere on my to-do list... :-)
LOL! On the first minutes we see the «Notre Dame basilica» here in downtown Montreal. Many French names in the credits. Even if this was made in Québec a French province, the narrator speaks in English. There must be a French version of this. This bread is a «Weston» company product which is one of many important bread companies here.
I did see the TV show about abandoned building of USA's «Wonderbread» which was the first to «industialise» making bread with ultra white flour in the beginning of the 20th century.
The first company to make sliced bread. It lost his almost monopoly on bread when dietetists said that eating whole wheat is more healthy.
I love how-to videos. I need more information on how this bread is made. Industrial bread is made with God knows what to make it rise and brown quicker so they can grind the loaves out. I heard it once said that if the bread is over soft and mushy-think marshmallow-then the shit will kill you and clog you up. Also, the narration was way too corny for me. On is trying too hard.
THAT was AWESOME. I love the bitch slapper, wolverine and the carb coffins.
Wow. It gives one pause. I thought about my diet last night... it's all gluten - rice - potato. That's what I eat. For bulk. There are lots of veggies in the mix and I have a giant green salad almost daily... but all that glute? We are just eating dough. Once it's chewed up - it's dough. So... gross.
LOL It was funny!
