2022.0110.0008...

I'm a little embarrassed to admit that I don't know what the message is supposed to be, but I like the visuals...

Here are the lyrics, if you're interested...

Drank away the rest of the day
I wonder what my liver'd say
Drink, that's all you can
Blackened days with their bigger gales
Blow in your parlor to discuss the day
Listen, that's all you can
Oh, but don't, no, don't sink the boat
That you built, you built to keep afloat
Oh no, don't, no don't sink the boat
That you built
Sick and tired of what to say
No one listens anyway
Sing, that's all you can
Rambling years of lousy luck
You miss the smell of burning turf
Dream, that's all you can
Oh, but don't, no, don't sink the boat
That you built, you built to keep afloat
Oh no, don't, no, don't sink the boat
That you built, that you built to keep afloat
Singled out for who you are
It takes all types to judge a man
Feel, that's all you can
Filthy suits with bigot ears
Hide behind their own worst fears
Live, that's all you can
It's all you can
It's all you can do, eh
No matter where I put my head
I'll wake up feeling sound again
Dreamin', it's all you can
Tomorrow smells of less decay
The flowers greet this blooming fray
Be thankful, that's all you can
Oh, but don't, don't sink the boat
That you built, you built to keep afloat
Oh no, don't, no, don't sink the boat
That you built, you built to keep afloat
Oh no, don't, no, don't sink the boat
Oh, that you built, that you built to keep afloat
A ripe old age, a ripe old age
I'm a ripe old age, that's what I am
I'm a ripe old age, a ripe old age
A ripe old age, just doing the best I can, hey
A ripe old age, a ripe old age
A ripe old age, that's what I am
A ripe old age, a ripe old age
A ripe old age, just doing the best I can, hey
The best I can

  1. Beautiful visuals and touching lyrics. The trials of life and the need to "build the boat" of resistance from the things we find through our life provides the boat of survival. The character gathers things others have cast off and objects that are basically considered worthless garbage to build his boat and sails off in the end. Living through the trials become harder as we age. The difficulty of denying those who would condemn us and not allowing ourselves to fall into habits that would destroy ourselves and sink our boat is clearly spoken.
This was my take on the lyrics, and I welcome others interpretation.
Thank you for sharing this, Rick.

  2. Jeff - That makes sense! Thanks. Part of me thought it had something to do with saving the planet but I couldn't piece it all together.

  3. Jeff said it beautifully. Thanks for sharing this,Rick. Loved it. Going to save it, as a man of an age who needs to be reminded "don't sink your boat."

  6. I have a few tunes by these guys on an old Nano (remember them???) It seems they had a number of free songs on Amazon at one point. Nice to know they are still kicking.

  7. Jeff's interpretation is very good. I was going more toward trying to resist the vices we all have that try to pull us under and drown us.
