I don't want to be too pessimistic but from the north of your border, USA is getting more and more into religious-white-suprematist-radicalisation.
With how 29 states are now ruling on abortion and the rise of white extremist coupled with all of mass shootings etc.. USA are on the path way to become another country where religion is taking charge of all parts of your levels of governements.
I was visiting South Carolina many years ago and the only radio channels I could have were ALL Christian ones. We went on Sunday to a «huge» Catholic church where we could park my car on a also HUGE parking lot like one of a shopping center.
As I always told you, as long as «religion» will have such a influence on the politics in USA, the American Experience will remain in the 18 and 19th century spirit.
I haven't seen all the seasons but The Handmaid's Tale seems to draw a pretty close picture of what awaits the U.S., or at least part of its States :-(
