  1. The last one is a real knocker.
I wonder if she really said it.

  2. JiEL - Indeed she did! Google said so.

  3. Ms Harris will always surprise me.
She could be the first woman as President of the USA.

But not sure USA are ready for it with so many mysogenic males that are living in the old fashion of the 50's.

First «black-latina woman» would give a hit in the balls of those old GOPQ retrumplicons.

  4. The omniscient right-wingers should consider passing legislation to make vasectomies compulsory at the age of puberty for all men. Ergo, no pregnancies. Ergo, no abortions. There, I've solved that problem.

  5. JiEL - They would become apoplectic.

Milleson - We know how well *that* would go over.

  6. Then a bit of a double standard, but they're very good at that, wouldn't you say?

  7. I totally support a woman's right to have an abortion.

But regarding the question "Can you think of any laws that give the government power to make decisions about the male body?" Yes, there is one very big one, the Selective Service Act. It requires all males (but not females) to register for the draft at age 21. We currently have a volunteer Army, but that's by government policy, not by law. The draft could be reinstated at any time. When drafted, a male becomes in effect a slave of the government, with no control over anything, including his own body. The government can send him to fight and die, with his body coming home in a body bag. I would say that's law that gives the government power to make decisions about the male body.

P.S. I'm old enough to remember Vietnam, where 58,000 U.S. men died, and 8 U.S. women died. -Larry

  8. I saw the video clip when Harris said that. It was during the confirmation hearings for one of Trump's Supreme Court picks (Kavanaugh, I think). It was during a discussion of anti-abortion laws. If I remember correctly, he was stumped trying to respond.

  9. Larry - Thank you for pointing out the Selective Service!

Infidel753 - That won't be the last thing that stumps him.

  10. It does need to be said that Unashamed Male makes a very important point. Military conscription and compulsory national service are forms of slavery, and at least under the present system, if the draft were re-imposed, it would apply only to men.

Needless to say, the occasional moves to extend the draft to women are exactly the wrong thing to do. The proper solution is slavery for nobody, not slavery for everybody.
