Don't say anymore that USA are the «best and oldest» democracy in the world when after centuries you are still struggling over voting rights for ALL your people.
ReplyDeleteAs many voting restrictions are poping up all over the states, it's becoming a real «joke» for that reputation of a real democratic country.
Time to make a cleaning swip on that matter once and for all.
Curiously, here in Canada we NEVER have such issues over voting rights and NONE of our numerous parties would interfer on the voting system which is rule by an independant rule called the General Election Commitee.
NEVER any politic parti can change the rules or change the location of a voting places.
You're an adult, a Canadian, then you are automaticaly on ALL the voting lists of any levell of governments, federal, provincial, municipal (city) and even for the schoolboard commity.
Old people of caucasian background can say that, many older Indigenous and people of colour remember a life without franchise.
DeleteThe lengths the GQP will go to stop losing elections will continue to grow unless they are stopped by a Federal Voting Reform --- or at the ***local*** level, where the vote is as important, if not more so.
ReplyDeleteJiEL - As usual, Canada wins.
ReplyDeletewhkattk - Absolutely!
Canada isn't always winning but we have more secure voting systems that exclude anyone to change the rules.
ReplyDeleteHaving multiple parties helps also to give us a better representation in our governements.
USA's voting rights are at stake and in very bad path to autocracy.
JiEL - I'm afraid you are correct.
