As we celebrate the end of PRIDE MONTH this year, may I share this with you. I'd like to erect a gigantic sign in my front yard that states this: A QUEER LIVES HERE! And across the street 2 sisters who were nuns. And next to them, a mixed race couple. And next to them, 2 gay men with their newly adopted daughter. And down the street, a Brit and an American with an autistic son. And further down, a lesbian couple and their Mom. And next to me, a loving couple with 3 daughters. And on the other side, a couple whose political beliefs are not like mine. And down the street, a religious woman whose daughter committed suicide. And so on. And not once, not one time have any of them said to me that my lifestyle and what I do in the privacy of my home is offensive to them and I should change my ways. And I have never told them the same. That's what this is all about. People, all kinds of people, similar and different, living together without judgement of the lives that are not their concern. Whatever you call it, peaceful coexistence , live and let live, agreeing to disagree, the point is this: It's so much better to use your time and energy nurturing love than fomenting your hate and anger. A QUEER LIVES HERE, and I love you. (You see the need for that huge sign) Happy Pride Year everyone!
