OMG!
ReplyDeleteThis is so true in USA.
I just saw, when Bidden argued about paying back some students debts at a high of 50 000$ US and that lady said that it'll be not enough because the average student's debt was around $150 000 US.
So terrible for those who have to pay such among of money before even having a good job to begin to reemburse it.
The Education systeme, here in province of Québec is a provincial domain but the federal government is also helping to subsudize the universities.
So, a student going to any university here in province of Québec is paying 18% of all the fees and the government ministery of education pays the the 83% other part.
A year in full time university goes around $4 000 Can to $7 000.
So multiply this to some degrees of 3 or 4 years and you have the total debt a Canadian student have.
We have many students coming from other countries but they don't benefit of those tarifs but event then, the annual fees are less than in USA.
Not talking about the medical debts because we have NO fees when we go to a hospital or see a doctor.
For the Robert Reich list, we have most of those too.
As a teacher now retired since 2011, I have a quite good pension to live on.
If I had to my teacher pension ($1 700 Can/month after taxes) with my provincial pension since I had 60yo ($500 /month after taxes) and the federal SV since I had 65yo ($550/month after taxes) my monthly income that I can have to pay all my stuff is $2 700 Can/month.
All the deductible income taxes taken from the raw amounts pay for all our provincial and federal services as like our universal health care.
So yes all our social benefits isn't free because they're paid by ALL the taxes paid by ALL citizens but this makes sure that when you need like a surgery or to see a doctor of need a MRI etc, you never have to show your credit card of built a huge bill the you'll never be able to pay.
As a Canadian I feel sorry for Americans who are struggling thanks to Made In America Greed!🤔
ReplyDeleteJiEL - You are much better off there.
ReplyDeleteLuv chocolate - Yes, we have entirely too much greed.
