    #2: I guess they anticipated a trend toward smaller cars, but this seems extreme. Just imagine going round a corner at any speed in something like that. And where's the space for the engine? Are they pedaling? The futurists back then don't seem to have thought any of this through very well.

    #3: Why? What were they thinking? That looks like a desert. There's plenty of space. Why not just put the second rail line at ground level next to the first one?

    #4: Airplane too pointy, looks like it will end up getting stuck in something (a giant pincushion maybe?) in one of those Wile E Coyote and Roadrunner cartoons.

  3. Ah, the futuristic minds of the 50s and 60s. They were fun and innovative ideas. The Smart Car is the closest we've come to tiny vehicles. But, LeftField is right - it wasn't that many years ago that Segway was supposed to become "the thing" for commuting.
