It's probably a piece of our junk that blew there from somewhere else on Mars. We leave space junk everywhere, and that's not different to our behavior here on Earth.
Of course NASA is saying it's a piece from one of our numerous probes. They would never say anything different because...THE COLLAPSE OF RELIGION AND WESTERN CIVILIZATION!!!
So we're leaving Garbage on Mars now. I hope cigarette buts never arrive!
