TWA Hotel, JFK Airport
The new TWA Hotel is a seven-story split structure that sits behind Eero Saarinen’s Jet Age landmark, the TWA Flight Center, at New York’s John F. Kennedy Airport. The glass-clad building features 512 rooms, a rooftop infinity pool, a bar inside a vintage plane, and a 10,000-square-foot observation deck that looks out over incoming international flights in Jamaica Bay. The structure had been closed to the public for over 18 years.
Why has it been closed to he public?
ReplyDeletewhkattk - I assume it was closed as a terminal until they figured out what to do with it. I think this was a pretty neat idea, though it took them long enough.
ReplyDeleteThe restoration of the terminal is pretty good. It looks pretty much as I remember it back in the late 70's. The first time I walked in there the WOW factor was off the charts. You felt this is IT and I have ARRIVED!
ReplyDeleteChris - Does that mean you actually went out there?
