I lived next to the stadium for two years in the 90's, just across Viau subway station. It is a beautiful concept although misplaced... not meant for our kind of weather.
Exactly... but most of all... THE SNOW!!! The original retractable roof had to be taken off and replaced by a permanent one because the original one couldn't support the weight of the snow in winter. Add to this lots of other little problem (a part of the permanent roof has collapsed some years ago and few years before that, somekind of concrete crossbeam outside the stadium also collapsed where people walked around - thank God nobody got injured...)
I mean, hundreds of studies and reports have been made since the 1976 Olympic Games and we're still haven't finish paying for a stadium that is almost never used!!! It's been such an issue over here... Anyways! All in all, it is an impressive sight, but at what costs!!! Have a great day. Hugs Jon
